The Excel Pro Basketball Jersey is considered to be the Holy Grail of rare jerseys by collectors. In the movie, Hoop Dreams, we see Arthur Agee wearing the jersey while playing basketball with his friends at the school yard. The scene later pans to his father buying drugs in the background. We also see the jersey hanging on his bedroom wall, displaying his prized possession. The movie doesn't explain how he acquired the jersey. Arthur does meet Isiah Thomas in the beginning of the movie, he may have been given the jersey by Thomas. Isiah Thomas played for St. Joseph High School in Westchester, Illinois. Arthur also plays at St. Joseph in the movie, however his father's drug habit undermines his ability to pay the school tuition. Arthur is then forced to attend John Marshall Metropolitan High School.
At Boriz, we have created a quality replica of this jersey, so you can own this piece of history. Check out the rest of our store to see the other great jerseys from the movie Hoop Dreams.
